Park Care Centre calls for clothing donations

PARKTOWN WEST – Smith encourages nearby residents to banish the needs of this frail community by generously donating items in-kind or giving financially.

Community members are encouraged to donate new or pre-loved clothing (in good condition) to residents at Park Care Centre in Parktown West.

Business development officer at Park Care Jaqui Smith said with the change of seasons, many households have items of clothing that were now being overlooked or taking up unnecessary space in their wardrobes.

“In the first months of 2020, no one could have foreseen how the rest of the year would play out. Last year packed in huge changes to our lifestyles, complicated our use of the familiar and blatantly uprooted our daily stems and buds,” said Smith.

“To date, this resulted in the over 300 frail nursing care dependent community of Park Care remaining within the confines of Park Care’s borders, unable to shop for everyday personal needs or leisureliness.”

As a result, one year later, young and old residents at Park Care are in need of clothing.

All types of clothing for men and women are welcome including trousers and slacks, shirts and tees, jackets and coats, jerseys, sleepwear, footwear, socks, slops, underwear and vests, slippers, tracksuits and more.
