Give the Greenside High matrics a small farewell to close off a tough year

Diez appealed for donations of cash, however small, and in-kind donations of cool drinks, food, and special items that the learners can keep as a memento.

Greenside High School requests members of the community to assist them in providing matric learners with a small festive farewell on 9 December.

Fundraiser and marketing coordinator at the school Marcos Diez said that 2020 has been an incredibly tough year for the 200 matrics at Greenside High.

“Matric is supposed to be their special year, but this year everything special and unique has been taken away from them and they have only worked. I really hope that this small gesture on 9 December will give them some positivity,” said Diez.

He explained that the matrics will be writing an exam on that day and the school hopes to invite parents to join matrics for a small, safe celebration following the exam at 4.30pm.

“We hope to give matrics a few snacks and give them the opportunity to take photos with their friends and walk away with a small party pack with snacks and small items to remember their school days.”

Diez appealed for donations of cash, however small, and in-kind donations of cool drinks, food and special items that the learners can keep as a memento.

He said that the Class of 2020 at Greenside High have not been able to attend a matric dance or enjoy a valedictory, so this small celebration will mean a great deal for learners.

Community members who can assist in any way are encouraged to contact Diez via email on MDiez@greensidehigh.co.za or call him on 082 472 7967.
