Active motivation

A Killarney resident has been a source of inspiration to other residents far and wide.

A Bryanston resident was inspired to give to a Killarney resident who appeared in an article in the Rosebank Killarney Gazette for his inspirational running.

The article titled 80-year-old still inspired to run [Week ending 16 October] reported on Killarney resident Wilson Mavhaga who inspires others by running. Belinda Stevens noticed Mavhaga running every day on her way to work. This inspired Stevens and helped keep her spirit strong during the lockdown.

Upon learning about Mavhaga from her friend Stevens, Bryanston resident Cristina Sequeira decided to give sports gear to the 80-year-old. The gear consisted of pants, underpants, shorts and shoes. “When I heard about Mavhaga, I figured the man was trying to spread positive vibes and I thought why not give him something to encourage him. The more we help others, people around us will also be motivated to do the same,” said Sequeira.

She added that giving is her passions – she provides food to residents all the way in Orange Farm, Witkoppen and Fairlands.
