Police arrest suspect for murder in Parkhurst

The man alleged that there was a fight between two men at the old bowling club while they were drinking.

Parkview police arrested a 38-year-old man in Parkhurst on 24 October for murder.

According to the spokesperson for the Parkview Police Station, Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, Parkview police were busy patrolling on 4th Avenue, Parkhurst, when they were approached by a man who informed the officers that there was a murder suspect at the old bowling club on Victory Road in Parkhurst.

“The man alleged that there was a fight between two men at the old bowling club while they were drinking. The man went to his room to eat and when he returned, he found one man lying on his back on the floor bleeding from his head,” said Sibeko.

She added that the victim was taken to Helen Joseph Hospital. The hospital later called the complainant and informed him that the victim had passed on.

The police accompanied the witness and he pointed out a 38-year-old man who was arrested.

The suspect, Daniel Vusi Mtsweni appeared in the Johannesburg Regional Court on 27 October to answer to charges of murder.

Station Commander for the Parkview police Colonel Theledi Gopane commended the good work by the officers who effected the arrest and encouraged the community to come forward with information that could lead to the possible arrest of suspects.
