Norwood Police arrest 21 suspects during early October

NORWOOD – All the arrested suspects will appear in court in due course.

Spokesperson of the Norwood Police Station Sergeant Eric Masotsha shared news of 21 successful arrests between 1 and 16 October.

These included: two suspects arrested for attempted armed robbery, two suspects arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and live ammunition, three suspects arrested for possession of suspected stolen property, three arrested for assault under domestic violence, two arrested for assault under grievous bodily harm, one suspect arrested for rape, one for kidnapping, another four arrested for shoplifting, one arrested for violation of a protection order and two arrested for possession of drugs and dealing in dagga.

According to Masotsha, all the arrested suspects will appear in court in due course.

Masotsha encouraged members of the public to stop withdrawing gender-based violence cases including domestic violence. He said community members were influenced by family members to withdraw their cases but these people were not having the abuse inflicted upon them.
