Lower Houghton residents are invited to join the Lower Houghton Residents Association (LHRA) AGM scheduled for 20 October.

Association chair Natalie Webb explained that the meeting will provide feedback on the actions taken by the committee over the year and some of the highlights of 2020, including the survey on street trees concerning Polyphagous shot-hole borer and a replanting plan as well as the awarding of five blue plaques on Heritage Day to some noteworthy homes in Houghton.

Chantelle Gladwin-Wood from Schindler’s Attorneys will be the guest speaker at the event addressing the topic of ‘Electricity tariffs – are you being lawfully charged?’

Webb said that many residents feel helpless and powerless when they report illegalities when, according to them, the City of Joburg allegedly takes no action or acts slowly.

Webb hopes that the address will be a useful way to assist residents.

The virtual AGM will start at 6pm. Residents need to confirm their attendance by emailing admin@lhra.joburg
