After being closed for almost two years for urgent upkeep, the M1 Double Decker bridge is currently flooded, thanks to a storm on 5 October.
One of the major issues addressed by the rehabilitation, was, of course, the drainage system.
The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) confirmed the flooding in a Tweet.Â

Angry Johannesburg motorists have taken to Twitter to voice their frustrations.
This is the same bridge that had months long extensive maintenance and repair works. How on earth can these drains be blocked?

Money down the drain literally, closing the double dekker to rehabilitate the drainage. @CityofJoburgZA @MyJRA should be bowing their heads in shame by using dubious contractors
