Support the Teddy Bear Foundation with some Pilates

PARKTOWN – Funds raised through the event will be channeled into the work of the foundation to assist children with court preparation.

The Teddy Bear Foundation (TBF) based in Parktown is hosting a virtual Pilates fundraiser for the NPO on Sunday, 4 October between 10am and 11.30am.

The class will be hosted on Zoom by Zaheda Ismail of Pure Pilates and is designed for all fitness levels. It is aimed to eliminate back pain and improve posture by developing a strong core. The one-hour, virtual class will be followed by a 10-minute address by the clinical director of the organisation Dr Shaheda Omar.

Donor liaison officer at TBF Dalene Bishop said that the aim of the event is to help the foundation through a difficult time. “Help yourself by participating in this class in order to help others,” said Bishop.

Funds raised will be channelled to help with the foundation’s court preparation programme aimed to assist child victims of violence. “There has been a lot of hype around gender-based violence over the last few months.

There is no point in reporting a case if nothing happens to the perpetrator. The court preparation offered by the clinic aims to take perpetrators to task,” said Bishop.

“Even if the perpetrator does not get the sentence they deserve, this preparation helps the child start the healing process when they speak out and have their day in court.”

Donations starting from R50 are necessary to participate in the event.
