Parkhurst Residents Association invites residents to donate blood

The blood drive will be held next to Bloom on 34, 4th Avenue, opposite the Medicare Clinic in Parkhurst.

With the critical shortage of blood in the country, the Parkhurst Residents Association is inviting people to donate blood.

The blood drive is set to assist the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) get to seven days’ worth of blood as they are currently at about three days. The blood drive will be held next to Bloom on 34, 4th Avenue, opposite the Medicare Clinic in Parkhurst.

Residents who meet the criteria below may arrive to donate from 9am to 3pm on 30 September.

To be eligible to donate blood, you need to:

  • Be free of any cold and flu symptoms
  • Be between the ages of 16 and 75
  • Weigh more than 50kg
  • Be in good health
  • Consider your blood safe for transfusion to a patient
  • Lead a healthy lifestyle.
