New development in Norwood armed robbery case

NORWOOD – A second breakthrough was made on a case of armed robbery by the Norwood police.

Seven more suspects have been arrested by the Norwood police in connection with the armed robbery.

The Rosebank Killarney Gazette reported on the armed robbery in an online article titled Norwood police make a breakthrough with a big arrest [published 29 July]. The victim of the crime had withdrawn an amount of R180 000 at a bank in Killarney and then robbed of the cash on 14 February. One 15 July Norwood police had arrested one suspect, who had allegedly driven the getaway vehicle, linked to the crime.

Wary not to divulge too much investigative information, Norwood Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Eric Masotsha said in recent developments, seven more suspects were arrested. “All seven arrested suspects will appear before the magistrate’s court soon. The Norwood Station Commander Colonel Phetule Mahasha applauded his detectives who are always there for the love of our residence and country as a whole,” said Masotsha.

He added that there were two more suspects still at large. Sergeant Masotsha welcomed the positive response they have received from the community.
