Major pipe burst in Melrose leaves residents without water

MELROSE – There is no estimated time of restoration for the major pipe burst affecting Killarney and surrounds.

Killarney and surrounding areas are without water this morning following a major pipe burst at the intersection of Melrose, Venus and Rose streets yesterday morning, 22 July.

Johannesburg Water has shut off the water supply at the Parktown reservoir following a number of reports and complaints of what has been called ‘a fountain’. A team has been sent out to do repairs.

Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck tweeted that Joburg Water is draining the system in preparation for the repair.

The community has also voiced their frustrations because the pipe burst was not attended to immediately.

There is currently no estimated time of restoration.
