Help keep people warm with Parkhurst Community Action Network

PARKHURST – The Parkhurst Can is conducting a blankets drive for those in need this winter.

The Parkhurst Community Action Network (Can) is appealing to residents to help keep people warm.

According to Parkhurst Can member, Nanine Levitz, residents can help by either donating a blanket or buying one for R60. The contribution is not limited to just one blanket, givers are welcome to give as many as they can.

Levitz said this is an initiative by the Can in collaboration with Bet on Better and Gauteng Together. The three collaborators do their work through the assistance of volunteers from the local community and support from generous givers.

Gauteng Together was launched on 16 April and called for the establishment of Cans across Gauteng to address the social impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Parkhurst Can was one of those established and it seeks to respond to growing concerns over food insecurity, hunger and other social challenges impacting negatively on the lives of residents in need.
