Inyoni Creek folk share what they have

INYONI CREEK – She added that bonds, school fees, insurance, medical aid and more costs still needed to be paid by the average suburban household.

Ward 81 councillor Irene Rugheimer thanked the residents of Inyoni Creek for their contributions to those in need in her ward.

The councillor and her team were able to distribute food parcels in the suburb of Lyndhurst and surrounds.”It is not only those in informal settlements and townships who are suffering. It is also people living in the suburbs who have not been earning during the lockdown who are in need. Many do not realise that the situation is affecting people from all walks of life, in townships and leafy areas. We will have many more unemployed people due to the lockdown. Companies are not all able to carry on without any form of income, unfortunately, overheads are still very real,” Rugheimer said.

She added that bonds, school fees, insurance, medical aid and more costs still needed to be paid by the average suburban household. Rugheimer said with no income this was impossible as many didn’t have the privilege of being able to save in ‘good times’.”Many have been living from paycheque to paycheque, now there is no cheque which means they can no longer just survive. Yet in these difficult times it is great to see those that have little are still willing to share the little they have.”
