Covid-19: Test for free at Parkhurst Clinic Region B

PARKHURST – The Parkhurst Clinic will focus solely on coronavirus testing at this time.

Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck shared the news and said testing would be done for free depending on the following criteria, “The person has been in contact with infected person. The person should also have travel history to high-risk areas; and symptoms such as cough, sore throat, difficulty breathing and fever [are present].”

City of Joburg’s Regional Health deputy director for Region B, Zanozuko Mbane, said Parkhurst Clinic was one of the two clinics identified out of the eight in the region. “We chose the clinic because of the geographical location which is convenient for people around The Parks suburbs to reach,” Mbane said.

The deputy director added that the local government was running the service and, therefore, would cover costs. He encouraged all individuals meeting the set criteria to walk into the clinic from the time it opens at 7.30am to 4pm from Monday to Friday.

The clinic also put up a notice outside which reads, “Please note that this faculty is dedicated for Sars Covid-19 testing site. Services such as chronic diseases, maternal health (antenatal care and family planning), child health (immunisation), acute diseases, can be accessed at nearest facilities.”

Residents, therefore, are only expected to go to Parkhurst Clinic for Covid-19 testing at this time.

Details: Parkhurst Clinic is located on corner 5th Avenue and 14th Street, Parkhurst.
