Covid-19: SMMEs in the Western Cape can receive assistance from tech experts

The webinars are aimed at non-tech businesses or those traditionally operating in the ICT sector covering themes including e-commerce, digital marketing, digitisation of business operations and systems, cybersecurity, digitisation of the informal economy and more.

The Western Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism has launched the #GoDigitalWC webinar series, bringing leading experts in digital technology to share ideas and advice with SMMEs regarding adaptation in light of Covid-19.

The webinar encourages business to adapt using digital technologies to provide online services to customers or adapt internal business practices to the online environment. This can help to ensure business continuity and safe and healthy workplaces reducing the risk of Covid-19 infection for customers and staff.

The series offers free live weekly webinars discussing a variety of topics including digitisation and the digital economy with valuable insights from thought leaders and practitioners in the industry.

The webinars are aimed at non-tech businesses or those traditionally operating in the ICT sector covering themes including e-commerce, digital marketing, digitisation of business operations and systems, cybersecurity, digitisation of the informal economy and more.

The Western Cape Economic Development and Tourism Department calls on the digital and technology industry in the Western Cape to volunteer for their tech volunteer programme aimed to match experts with those who need digital expertise. Tech experts will have one-to-one sessions of free advisory digital technology-related support with SMMEs during Covid-19.

The initiative will be rolled out in three phases:

  1. Call to recruit tech volunteers
  2. Call to small businesses seeking tech and digital advisory support
  3. Support matching.

To participate, submit your details on this form and you will be contacted soon.

To sign up with the tech volunteer programme or sign up for the #GoDigitalWC webinars, email dedat.broadband@westerncape.gov.za

Recordings of the webinars will be published here.
