Covid-19: Correctional Services cases increase to 99
The Department of Correctional Services has reported that five additional officials have tested positive for Covid-19.

The Department of Correctional Services has reported that five additional officials have tested positive for Covid-19.
This brings the total number of cases reported in correction services to 99, the department said in a statement on 18 April.
The five new cases are as follows:
Limpopo – 1
East London – 2
Worcester – 2
“Screening of officials and those accessing Correctional Services premises remains in force to prevent the further spread of Covid-19 in our centres across the country,” said the department
The total breakdown of confirmed cases at correctional services facilities is as follows:
Eastern Cape
Officials – 31
Inmates – 56
Western Cape
Officials – 9
Limpopo
Officials – 2
Head Office
Officials – 1
“We will continue working towards the wellbeing of officials and inmates, as their health is our priority,” the department said.
