Parkview CPF urges residents to be respectful to police members during lockdown

PARKVIEW – Parkview CPF urges community members to adhere to the lockdown regulations.

Parkview CPF chair Geraldine Connell encourages residents to adhere to regulations, contribute food and other essentials for the less fortunate and be respectful to police members during the lockdown.

Connell sent the Gazette photos of the Gauteng Province assisting the Parkview police to sanitise the station recently.

She explained that the CPF has assisted the SAPS with the provision of additional personal protection equipment such as spray bottles, disinfectant gel, bars of soap and paper towelling.

“Although the national office of the SAPS has provided some resources to each station, our colonels were extremely grateful for the additional supplies that the CPF procured for them,” said Connell, explaining that these supplies were delivered before the lockdown began.

Connell said that there has been some controversy about the members of other CPFs assisting police with roadblocks and even handing out food parcels to the poor. “Despite numerous meetings and requests by the Gauteng CPF board, CPFs were not given the status of essential service providers.”

The CPF has also assisted community members by answering their queries on WhatsApp groups, passing on reports of transgressions to senior police members and facilitating the collection of food parcels for poor and indigent people.
