Parktown public speakers achieve

PARKVIEW – Public speakers at Parktown Girls' have grown in their abilities during the first term of this year.

Parktown Girls’ is proud of their public speakers who enjoyed a successful first term.

Twenty learners from Parktown High School for Girls participated in the High Schools Public Speaking Festival, achieving a number of outstanding results. In the Grade 12 competitive category, Vongai Mawoneke, Yusra Munir and Madiha Acoob achieved A symbols.

In the Grade 12 competitive individual category, Ammaarah Badsha achieved a B+.

Grade 12s Tashline King, Gadija Essop, Reowagile Monnatlala and Tshegofatso Legote achieved B+.

Grade 11s Chaddimma Nwokedi, Munnira Katongole, Fadzai Matanhire and Tasneem Howlader achieved A.

Grade 10s Lauren Lachman, Bianca Lachman, Atiyyah Ballim and Ilham Acoob achieved B symbols.

Grade 9s Malebo Nhlapho, Sebosarena Mello, Khumotsame Mojaki and Paballo Ramohlola achieved A.

Throughout the first term, the advanced speakers ran workshops with beginner and intermediate speakers on subjects including ‘How to choose a good topic’, ‘How to write a speech’ and ‘How to present a speech effectively’.

These valuable workshops assisted speakers to understand the basics of the craft. The term ended with a showcase where learners were able to put this knowledge into practice.
