Johannesburg Flying Squad recovers 12 cars

JOHANNESBURG – Suspects appeared in different courts facing different charges.


The Johannesburg Flying Squad has recovered 12 vehicles during their routine patrols in various parts of the city. “Out of the 12 vehicles recovered, seven vehicles were reported stolen while the other five were reported hijacked,” said the unit’s spokesperson, senior personnel officer Raymond Sambo.

The squad also arrested 13 suspects for various offences between 13 and 16 March in different areas.

“Among the 13 suspects arrested, one faces a charge of assault with grievous bodily harm, five were held for business robbery, three were arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm, a 9mm Beretta pistol, with numbers filed off and ammunition. Our officers also arrested a suspect for possession of a hijacked vehicle and three other suspects were nabbed for possession of drugs. Investigation continues in all cases.”

All the suspects appeared in different magistrates’ courts.
