Highlands North Residents Association postpones face-to-face meeting due to coronavirus
HIGHLANDS NORTH – The meeting will now be conducted via Skype.
The executive committee of the Highlands North Residents’ Association (HNRA) have decided to postpone their face-to-face public meeting indefinitely.
This decision comes on 16 March following the announcement by the South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on the outbreak. Ramaphosa announced that South Africa is now in a state of disaster after the number of cases with infections increased staggeringly over the weeks. The President advised people to avoid large gathering of more than 100 people to avoid the potential of COVID-19 spreading even further.
Heading the call, the residents’ association decided that their planned 25 March public meeting reported in the North Eastern Tribune article Share you grievances [Week Ending 20 March] will now be conducted through digital platforms to avoid direct contact.
The association’s chairperson Eckart Zollner said the meeting will no longer be held at the Waverley Bowls Club but will now be held via Skype. “The executive committee can’t give a new date for the face-to-face meeting as its members don’t know what the advice will be in a month or so.

“In the interim, we encourage community members to communicate their issues to us so that we can take action on these issues. Further to this, all members of the executive committee team are making themselves available to community members at the original time and date of the public meeting – Wednesday 25 March from 6pm to 7pm – via the audio and video conference platform Skype.”
This platform can be used from any mobile phone or computer and is free of charge to the user.
Community members are asked to either dial Eckart’s Skype address eckart.zollner on 25 March at 6pm or submit their Skype ID to Eckart beforehand so they can be dialled in at the time of the meeting.
