Norwood police find victim lying down on Grant Avenue with stab wounds

NORWOOD – The suspect who allegedly stabbed a male victim on Grant Avenue will appear in Johannesburg Magistrate Court next month.

Norwood police have opened a docket of attempted murder after a man was found lying on the side of the road and fighting for his life from suspected stab wounds.

It is alleged that the 36-year-old victim was stabbed during a street fight on Grant Avenue in Norwood on 27 February, said Norwood police spokesperson Captain Masotsha.

Patrolling police were stopped and told by members of the community about people fighting on Grant Avenue, and when they rushed to the scene they found the bleeding man lying on the ground.

The suspect was pointed out by people who were milling around the scene and the 31-year-old alleged perpetrator was arrested on the spot.

Masotsha said the victim was then rushed to Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital for treatment and the suspect has since appeared in Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on 2 March for attempted murder and remanded in custody to appear again on 31 March.

Masotsha commended the community for their help in identifying the suspect.
