King David Linksfield parent tests positive with Covid-19

LINKSFIELD – Please note a previous version of this story incorrectly stated that the parent was from the Linksfield Primary School. In fact, the parent is from King David Linksfield School. The North Eastern Tribune apologises for this error.

The South African Board of Jewish Education (Sabje) has confirmed that a parent whose children attend King David Linksfield has tested positive for coronavirus.

The parent has taken his children out of school and placed them under self-quarantine for the recommended period of 14 days.

The man, whose age has not been revealed, recently travelled to the United States via Dubai. When he landed in South Africa, he felt sick and self-quarantined immediately before getting tested.

The board said no schools would be closed at this stage but security measures and guidelines were being implemented to ensure that no localised transmission occurred.

Sabje has urged anyone that may have travelled to any of the high-risk countries to self-quarantine and not go to school for 14 days (this includes parents, children and anyone that may have been in contact with an infected person) and make sure to inform the principal of the school.
