Police urge members of the public to look after their cars while performing ritual in Jukskei River

JOBURG – The Sandringham Police Station warns residents to be vigilant of criminals along the Jukskei River.

The Sandringham Police Station has warned community members and those using the Jukskei River along Cunning Road to be vigilant while performing rituals in the river.

Spokesperson Captain Mohlaume Mamabolo said, “In the past few weeks we’ve received a number of complaints from people who were allegedly robbed of their valuables by armed criminals.

“In all three recently reported cases it is alleged that a group of three men with one armed with a firearm attacked victims while they were busy performing rituals in the Jukskei River along Cunning Road.”

Mamabolo said the station has assigned a police vehicle to constantly patrol the area to ensure public safety.

“We call upon community members to be vigilant and avoid leaving cars unattended while they are busy down at the river. They must always ensure that there is someone who will look after their cars.”
