22 February: Experience Walter Hamady with Jack Ginsberg

Don’t miss the chance to experience a collection of artists’ books from the viewpoint of its collector. This month, Jack Ginsberg will be leading a tour through the idiosyncratic and humorous world of Walter Hamady with the Gabberjabbs & Walter Hamady and The Perishable Press Limited exhibition. The exhibition features more than 125 of Hamady’s books which are all part of the Jack Ginsberg Centre for Book Arts permanent collection. Delve into the artists and poets who contributed to the creation of many of these beautiful handmade books and Hamady’s irreverent, humorous and innovative books that he referred to as the Gabberjabbs. The event is free and open to the public.

23 February: Artificially Infeminated

Artificially Infeminated, directed by award winning comedian Rob Van Vuuren, is Claudine’s debut one woman stand-up comedy show that explores the intricacies of being cis gender female, pale white, chubby, Jewish and middle child in Jo’burg South Africa #millenialslovelabels. Claudine explores everything from her childhood infatuation with becoming famous, to her current infatuation with her double chin. Tickets are R 120 at the door.

23 February: World of Words Season Premier

Catch a jam-packed afternoon filled with poetry and live performances. Hosted at the Reception Kitchen and Bar, W.O.W Poetry kicks off its poetic year with colourful performances by Khayalethu Mguzulo and Felix Venter.
