According to DSJ marketing manager Savo Ceprnich, a suspect allegedly stole a cell phone from a learner at another school in the Milpark area.

The suspect allegedly made his way through Frank Brown Park, Sans Souci Road and into the back entrance of a nearby hospital.

He was chased by learners at the school and intercepted by hospital security. He was then allegedly forced to do a U-turn and return to the hospital entrance, where he was allegedly confronted by the group.

Ceprnich said the confrontation was stopped by hospital security as well as members of the DSJ security.

“No learners or staff members of the Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg were involved or injured,” said Ceprnich.

UPDATE:

Netcare Milpark Hospital general manager Marc van Heerden said that the incident occurred at approximately 3.25pm, whereby a man was chased by a group of unknown males shouting that he had stolen a mobile phone.

“One of our security guards that manages the back entrance closed the gate to avoid further harm to the gentleman whereby she then called our Netcare 911 on-site crew for medical assistance,” said van Heerden.

Van Heerden said that police were called to the scene, but the unknown males left the scene before the authorities arrived.

Spokesperson for the Parkview Police Station Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said that no case has been opened at the station in this regard.
