Orchards resident Ada Plett turns 104

ORCHARDS – Local resident Ada Plett marks her 104th birthday with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.


Ada Plett celebrated her 104th birthday on 11 February with a party at Our Parents’ Home which is a retirement home in The Gardens complex in Orchards on 11 February.

Friends and family including her son Rodney and his wife Anita Plett, grandchildren Adam, Dana and Nicole as well as great-grandchildren Riley, Harley, Ethan and Kyle were all present. Kyle (7) is 97 years younger than the birthday girl.

Ada was the oldest of five children and is the only sibling alive today. Ada was married twice, first to Norman Gross and then to Manning Plett with whom she had three children Sharon, Rodney and Malcolm.

Ada Plett, née Weinberg, was born on 11 February 1916 in Markwood in the Free State.
