Five suspects in police custody following arrests in Johannesburg

JOHANNESBURG – All suspects have since appeared in different magistrates' courts.


Five suspects were arrested last weekend by the Johannesburg Flying Squad for various crimes.

The suspects were arrested in different locations in Johannesburg, according to the spokesperson for the unit, senior personnel officer Raymond Sambo.

He said police also recovered four vehicles reported to be stolen or hijacked.

They were a white VW sedan, white Nissan Almera and a white Toyota sedan which were reported stolen and a silver VW Golf which was reported hijacked.

“Among the five suspects arrested, two face charges of theft with false pretence, one suspect was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and two others for possession of drugs. Investigation continues in all cases.”

Working together with the community led to these arrests and recoveries, he said, adding that the police appreciated the public for their contribution.

All five suspects, aged between 22 and 31, have since appeared in different magistrates’ courts.
