Roedean celebrates outstanding learners in extra-curricular activities

PARKTOWN – Two Roedean School learners are not only doing their school proud but also ranking high in extra-curricular activities at a national level.


Two Grade 12 learners at Roedean School (SA) in Parktown represented their school well in extra-curricular activities. Hayley Tsuen is a prefect and is the tennis captain while Ella Morrison is the head of debating.

Hayley is ranked the number one tennis player in Gauteng. She won the final of the Gauteng Championships and therefore became Gauteng’s number one tennis player. Last year, Hayley was ranked in the Gauteng Schools’ Top 10. She was selected to play in the Growthpoint National Tennis South Africa (TSA) Tournament.

Ella won the National Debating Tournament which was held in Pretoria in December, therefore, Ella has been named the top debater in the country. In 2019, Ella was also selected for the SA National Debating Team. This is the highest level of achievement in debating. She competed in the Asian World Schools’ Debating Competition in Thailand. Approximately 70 countries competed and SA ranked in the Top 16.
