Suspects in custody for various offences in Johannesburg

JOHANNESBURG – During the arrests, officers recovered two motor vehicles.


Six suspects were held by the Johannesburg Flying Squad police units in different parts of the city for various offences including possession of illegal guns.

Spokesperson for the unit, senior personnel officer Raymond Sambo said on 4 February that the arrests were made between 31 January and 3 February while the officers were on their routine patrols.

“During the arrests, officers recovered two motor vehicles, four unlicensed firearms, two 9mm Taurus and one CZ P-7 as well as a 9mm Girsan pistol with ammunition,” he said.

“The two vehicles are a white Hyundai H100 which was reported stolen and a white land Rover reported hijacked. Investigation continues in all cases.”

Sambo said they worked together with the community adding that their willingness to share information led to these recoveries. “SAPS appreciates the public for their contribution. It should also be noted that any information regarding the vehicles, one may contact the relevant detective quoting the relevant case number.”
