Last year, online streaming giant, Netflix, began production on its first original African series, Queen Sono, an action-packed spy thriller produced by Johannesburg-based production company, Diprente.

The six-part series follows, Queen Sono, a highly trained and unconventional spy working for an undercover South African agency devoted to protecting the people of Africa. With Pearl Thusi taking the lead as the title character, the series boasts an all-local cast which includes the likes of Vuyo Dabula, Sechaba Morojele, Chi Mhende, Loyiso Madinga, Rob Van Vuuren and more exciting acts which bring the action-packed series to life.

Following the release of Queen Sono’s trailer earlier this week, production on the series seems to be wrapped up and it is expected to premiere on Netflix 28 February.
