Old Parkhurst Bowls and Soccer Club up for a tender

PARKTOWN – Interested bidders are required to submit an in-depth development proposal for the site.

The old Parkhurst Bowls and Soccer Club property located on Victory Road, west of Parkhurst, is up for tender.

According to Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck, the property, measuring 78 295 m², is up for tender once again. He said on the Ward 117 in Joburg Facebook page, “[The property] is currently zoned as public open space, any form of development on the site will have to be preceded by a park closure and rezoning.”

The development envisions the property to be a recreational/sporting centre, in line of the general provisions of a private open space zoning, Truluck explained.

Interested buyers or bidders are expected to familiarise themselves with the town plan scheme. He added that, currently, the old clubhouse is illegally occupied and the successful bidder will be responsible to relocate the illegal occupants in terms of the law.

Truluck post further detailed, “Furthermore, the development proposal must take cognisance of the natural environment and propose measures as to how the rehabilitation and maintenance of the natural environment would be addressed in the development and operational phases of the project.”

Interested bidders need to meet these criteria:

The closing date is 5 March. Proposals will be accepted until 10.30am on that date. Bids will be opened to the public in the designated boardrooms at the City of Joburg Property Company offices at the 1st Floor, Forum II, Braampark Office Park, 33 Hoofd Street, Braamfontein.
