Counterfeit goods worth R42 million seized in Johannesburg CBD

JOHANNESBURG – Police are on a mission to clean out counterfeit goods that are circulating around the province.


A raid was conducted on one of the buildings in the Johannesburg CBD this past weekend by the police together with other law enforcement agencies.

Counterfeit goods to the value of R42 million were seized. 

The goods included equipment used to illegally brand clothes, bags and tekkies.  “This is an ongoing operation aimed at recovering all counterfeit goods that are in circulation in the province,” said SAPS in a statement.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on 3 February.
