Zoo Lake swimming pool urgently needs chemicals

PARKVIEW – An urgent appeal is being made to the community for donations to keep Zoo Lake swimming pool going for at least two weeks.

Zoo Lake Water Polo Club is urgently appealing to community members for help to provide chemicals for the Zoo Lake swimming pool in Parkview.

Community member Julia Bozzoli acknowledged that the City of Joburg was unable to provide chemicals for many public swimming pools at the moment.

“90kg of chlorine with two 25 litres of pool acid will last for the next two weeks. So, there is no limit. All donations however big or small will help the immediate problem,” said Bozzoli.

She added that so far the club had spent R3 500 on chlorine to keep the pool going. If the water quality deteriorated, the pool may face temporary closure and that’s not ideal considering it was the swimming season.

Anyone able to donate in any way may contact Bozzoli at jmdbozzoli@gmail.com
