Sandringham police embark on New Year’s ‘zero-tolerance’ crime drive

SANDRINGHAM – The public has been assured that this year 's visibility of police would be higher.


The Sandringham police are adamant that the year 2020 will be much different with the men and women in blue aiming to reduce crime in their area of service.

According to the spokesperson for the Sandringham Police Station, Captain Mohlaume Mamabolo, work is already underway.

Mamabolo said they started on 21 January with a joint crime prevention operation which includes the Metro police as well as the private security companies working in the area.

“We embarked on crime prevention [operation] around Bramley View area, especially in Cunning Road, where a big roadblock under Section 13(7) was held,” said Mamabolo.

“The operation concentrating on illegal activities such as possession of the stolen property, stolen motor vehicles, possession of drugs, possession of unlicensed firearms and violations of the Road Traffic Act. This also formed part of our crime prevention programme.”

Station Commander Colonel Lindani Ndlovu has assured the community that this year visibility of police would be higher.

He said: “We will make sure that any person who commits a crime would be arrested and the Sandringham community must feel safe in their streets, roads and public parks.”
