M1 north Smit Street offramp to be temporarily closed for the next week

BRAAMFONTEIN – The temporary road closures have started from 22 January.


The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) is currently doing a road resurfacing programme which is focusing on deep patching on the M1 north Smit Street offramp, Braamfontein.

The closure started on 22 January and will end on the 28 January. The resurfacing will take place outside of peak hours to reduce traffic congestion.

Date and time of scheduled work are as follows:

  • 22 January 2020 from 9.30am–3pm
  • 23 January 2020 from 9.30am–3pm
  • 24 January 2020 from 9.30am–3pm
  • 25 January 2020 from 9.30am–4pm
  • 26 January 2020 from 9.30am– 4pm
  • 27 January 2020 from 9.am–3pm
  • 28 January 2020 from 9.30am–3pm.

Alternatives routes that motorists can use are Carr Street offramp, Empire Road offramp and Jan Smuts Avenue offramp.

The JRA has apologised for the inconvenience it may cause.
