Locals train for upcoming Dusi

ROSEBANK – Local resident Bradley Fisher completed the event alongside Simnikwe Ntondini in 01:36:00.


With the famous Dusi Canoe Marathon taking place at the end of February, local paddlers are in peak training.

The Dabulamanzi Dusi Jozi Jol took place at Emmarentia Dam on 12 January, attracting paddlers from throughout the area who use the opportunity to train, practise running with a boat out of the water and putting it back into the water to continue training laps.

The training race consists of a 14km paddle and a 3.5km run.

The winning combination in this K2 (doubles) event was the competitive combination of two Sowetan paddlers Zanenhlahla Mbala and Sibusiso Chwayi who completed the event in 01:25:00.

Rosebank resident and CEO of ADreach, Bradley Fisher made it possible for the Soweto Canoe and Recreation to get up and running years ago, supporting youth financially with education and jobs over the years.

Fisher is also an avid paddler and keen sportsman. He partnered with Simnikwe Ntondini of the Soweto club, completing the event in 01:36:00.
