Taxi driver arrested after throwing a brick at vehicle on Corlett Drive road rage incident

MELROSE – Metro police spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said that road rage is a crime which should be reported to Saps.

Metro Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said Metro police Chief David Tembe issued an instruction this morning after seeing a video that went viral of a taxi driver throwing a brick at another vehicle on Corlett Drive in Johannesburg to be arrested within 24 hours.

The JMPD tracked the taxi to the Alexandra Taxi Association and traced the driver who was apprehended and taken to the Metro offices at 8th Street and Old Pretoria Main Road.

The taxi driver is being held under custody at Norwood Police Station, Minnaar appealed to the owner of the white VW Kombi to proceed to Norwood Police Station, where he or she is needed to make a statement.

Social media was abuzz on 16 January following a road rage incident on Corlett Drive near Melrose Arch.

In a video posted online, a taxi driver is observed exiting his vehicle and arguing with another driver through an open window before throwing a brick at the car while it was in motion.

The Rosebank Killarney Gazette contacted Metro police spokesperson Wayne Minnaar who said, “Road rage is a crime. Such cases must be reported to the Saps.”
