Exceptional matric results from Yeshiva College in Glenhazel

GLENHAZEL -– Yeshiva College in Glenhazel applauds its matric Class of 2019 for an 'exceptional achievement'.

The Class of 2019 at Yeshiva College in Glenhazel amassed an incredible 186 distinctions in total, with a 100 per cent university entrance and equating to an exceptional average of 3.9 distinctions per learner.

The achievement was described as an outstanding feat in which the school’s matric classes have maintained an average of above 3.6 distinctions per learner for the last seven years, said a statement from Gavin Price, a marketing consultant for the college.

The statement said more than two-thirds of the matric class are spending their first year after school in Israel – learning in high-level Yeshivot and Midrashot, on experiential learning programmes and attending university.

“We are blessed to have such wonderful academic results from our learners — placing us among the top private schools in the country. This is achieved at Yeshiva College while our learners simultaneously embrace the calling of pursuing a dual curriculum. Our learners invest in Limudei Kodesh on a high level as they develop themselves holistically,” the statement said.

The statement said one learner attained nine distinctions, two attained eight, six attained seven, five attained six, six attained five, four attained four, nine attained three, five attained two, and six attained one distinction each, equating to seven ‘full houses’ achieved and 92 per cent of the class attained at least one distinction.

There were 21 distinctions in Hebrew by the 23 learners in the class (91 per cent); 36 distinctions in English from 48 learners (75 per cent); all of the seven IT learners achieved distinctions (100 per cent); 37 out of 48 learners achieved distinctions in life orientation (77 per cent).

All six drama learners achieved a ‘B’ or higher; 80 per cent of the business studies class achieved a ‘B’ or higher; more than 75 per cent of the learners in the respective subjects of history, life science, physical science or maths literacy achieved a ‘B’ or higher; and more than 70 per cent of the 11 learners that took AP maths achieved a ‘B’ or higher.

The college commended the matric learners on the ‘tremendous effort and wish them ‘hatzlacha rabba’ as they benefit from the fruits of their efforts in the years to come’.

Parents were commended for supporting their children, including the principals and educators.
