The principal of Liberty Community School in Bramley, Dumisani Hadebe said he was happy with the 2019 matric results achieved by his school despite a slight decline compared to the Class of 2018.

The school achieved a 95.98 per cent pass rate, a slight decline from 100 per cent the school achieved in the 2018 academic year.

“We had a total number of 73 Grade 12 learners [of] which 12 of them were progressed learners. Only three learners couldn’t make it this year… three of the 12 progressed learners. I am very happy with the school achievement though we could not maintain our 100 per cent pass rate,” Hadebe said.

Learner Mayibongwe Dlovu (17) who attained seven distinctions in English, mathematics, physical science, geography, life orientation, life sciences, and computer applications, said hard work and determination helped him achieve his goal to pass almost all his subjects with flying colours.

“I worked very hard to achieve these marks. I had to abandoned bad friendships, work hard and focus on my studies from January. I had to set goals and rules to achieve my goals though it was not easy at some point,” he said

Ndlovu will study actuarial science at the University of Johannesburg this year and has a dream to work overseas in the future.
