Thembalami says hats off to Balwin for cheque donation

LOMBARDY EAST – Thembalami Care Centre receives a major financial boost from Balwin Properties.

Thembalami Care Centre in Lombardy East received a R100 000 donation from the Balwin Properties’ Foundation after the JSE-listed property company’s Charity Hat Walk on 1 December.

Last year Thembalami – which incorporates the Max Ordman Deaf Association (Moda) – was also one of the beneficiaries of the charity walk.

The centre had a stall at Jeppe Quondam Sports Club on the day and sold fresh produce from its food garden, including spinach, tomatoes, green peppers, mint, coriander and thyme, as well as eggs from its free-range chicken.

“On behalf of the management and residents of Thembalami Care Centre, Moda and our Zamokuhle Service Centre, we would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Balwin Foundation for their magnificent donation,” said Thembalami manager Esme van der Walt.

“We are going to utilise this money to purchase and install air conditioners in the main dining hall, the occupational therapy department and our chapel.”
