St Mary’s head girl attains 10 distinctions #MatricResults19

WAVERLEY – St Mary's head girls have shined throughout 2019.

St Mary’s School Waverley was ecstatic with their head girls’ 2019 matric results.

Head of public relations at the school Leigh-Anne Verster said, “All achieved superb academic results. Anqi Qu, head girl, received 10 distinctions and featured on the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) outstanding achievement list.”

Anqi is only the fourth girl in St Mary’s 132-year history to be awarded a Victrix Honorum blazer. Verster explained, “Her blazer recognizes honours in academic excellence, cultural achievement and commitment to service.”

Verster highlighted other achievements of their head girls. Deputy head girl Khanyisile Nawa was chosen to read a poem describing how she carries her mother on her back, at the 129th annual general meeting of the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The first black female president of the organization was also inaugurated on that occasion.

Deputy head girl Lucy Stipinovich was the worthy recipient of numerous musical awards. In addition to her talent in music, Lucy also excelled as an academic and is featured on the 2019 IEB’s commendable achievement list.
