Bramley police urge community members to join the fight against crime

MARLBORO – Suliman said the aim of the event was to thank street patrollers for their commitment to working with the police to curb crime in the area.

The chairperson of Bramley Community Policing Forum (CPF) Shoquat Suliman has hailed hard-working street patrollers in Marlboro for their stunning job in keeping local streets safe in 2019.

This was after Bramley Police Station and the leadership of Bramley CPF hosted a year-end function at the Marlboro Sports Complex as a token of their appreciation.

Suliman said, “Today we hosted this year-end function to specifically thank you, our committed and hard-working street patrollers who volunteered your precious time and energy to keep our streets safe on a daily basis.

“We awarded all of you with certificates of appreciation and festive season gifts as a token of motivation for you to continue helping police and our community in the fight against crime. We know that you all have families and other things to take care of, but you’ve chosen to keep our streets safe.”

Station Commander at Bramley Police Station Colonel Owen King said it was important for all communities to have street patrollers who will work closely with the police in order to curb stubborn crimes.

He added that the working relationship between the CPF and street patrollers in the area has improved and yielded good results.

“Street patrollers are the force multipliers in terms of fighting crime in our communities simply because they know people in the community they operate in. They always have vital information that police need to trace perpetrators of crime in their respective areas of operation.

“We have cases and perpetrators of different crimes that were arrested with the help of street patrollers.”

King urged all community members and the business community to join hands with the police in the fight against crime in the area.
