Truluck looks forward to infrastructure upgrades in 2020

PARKTOWN NORTH – Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck discusses his joys and challenges during 2019.

Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck reflected on his highlights and challenges as ward councillor this year.

Truluck said some highlights have included helping residents negotiate the difficulties of the valuation process, and seeing the improvements in trails in Delta Park and along the Braamfontein Spruit thanks to Jozi Trails. He added that the growth and confidence of the residents’ associations and community groups have been an encouragement to him as well as the construction of new parks in Rosebank.

He said getting service delivery in the ward, especially from Johannesburg Roads Agency, had been a real challenge. He also mentioned that displaced persons and waste pickers living along the river and in other green spaces have also proved to be challenging to deal with. Some other challenges affecting residents have included sewage spills, power outages and water pipe bursts.

Looking ahead to 2020, Truluck expected better support to Region B entities from the City so that basic service delivery could be improved. He looked forward to seeing more infrastructure upgrades, which would come at the cost of greater disruption to pavements, roads and residents while the work is being carried out. He said the ward should see an increased presence of Metro police once new officers had graduated.

“I would like to thank residents for their support and encouragement… 2020 will be a very busy year as various infrastructure projects kick in – patience and determination will be needed during construction.”

Truluck also encouraged residents to stay safe over the holiday period.
