Sandton SPCA needs your help to continue their work

SANDTON – Sandton SPCA thanks the community for their continued support.

It is that time of the year again when we reflect back on what we have all accomplished and what is yet to come.

Sandton SPCA general manager, Ralph Hohls, sends their festive season wishes.

“We are incredibly grateful to each and every member in the community who has contributed to our cause at the Sandton SPCA. Without the contributions from the public, we would not be in a position to rescue animals and protect them from abuse,” said Hohls.

This year has been a very busy year for the Sandton SPCA. From the beginning of the year, the Sandton SPCA has taken in more than 1 255 stray dogs and cats and more than 1 700 unwanted dogs and cats.

The clinic treated more than 1338 dogs and cats with the inspectorate attending to more than 1 100 animal cruelty complaints and issued 560 warnings this year thus far.

“This has all been made possible because of the kind donations we receive from our loyal community of supporters,” he added.

The SPCA receives no funding from the government and relies solely on public support.

Over the coming year, the organisation would like to be able to help even more animals and conduct more outreach programmes in the impoverished communities where they sterilise and vaccinate the animals of those less fortunate.

Wish list:

  • Generator facility to cover our clinic during load shedding
  • Fencing contractor to donate fencing to repair our kennels and paddock fencing
  • Second-hand bakkie – low mileage
  • Shopping trollies (2 or 3)
  • Light fleece blankets/towels
  • Kitten and puppy food
  • Chicken food
  • Tea, coffee, sugar and milk, toilet paper
  • Cleaning products (household cleaner, toilet cleaner, furniture polish, dish washing liquid, hand soap, etc)
  • Printing paper.

Hohls concluded, “The Sandton SPCA would like to thank the community for their continued support during the year. We wish you a wonderful and blessed festive season and all the very best for 2020.”
