Covering the surface with Loyiso

JOBURG – Covering the surface with R&B musician Loyiso as he shares his free-spirited journey.

After a successful intimate live session, 20-year-old pop and R&B musician Loyiso Gjana is one of the country’s hottest tickets and sought-after soulful voices. From winning the hearts of South African’s while on season 11 of Idols South Africa to treating fans to a special night of pure sultriness, love and laughter. Gijana is ready to tell his story through music with a storyline that will make the listener feel closely connected to his journey.

His debut single, Nonstikelelo and accompanying positive responses, solidified his mark as one of the country’s freshest new faces. Although having a plethora of original music, the musician continues to share vocal and piano covers on his social media pages where fans continue to request to see him performing live.

“I’ve always been doing originals. I’ve always had originals but I’ve been picky about releasing them and letting people in, I’m very choosy about when I want people in my life because what I write about is what I go through, whatever I put out there people will know that it’s something I went through. So I love doing covers because it’s nice taking a song and making it your own. Originals are a very vulnerable part of me that I only let out at certain parts that’s why I do covers so that I can give people some material,” Gijana said

As with any other R&B musician, Gijana said his interest in writing about the trials, tribulations and euphoria of love and romance helps him heal and deal with his vulnerability.

“Love is such a crucial part of any one’s life. It’s something that everyone goes through, it’s something that I am kind of getting into. For me, writing about it is kind of me letting everything that I feel out so that I can heal,” he said.

Working on a whole body of work, the singer said he was getting close to a point where he was ready to let people into his life and share personal moments in his life.

“A lot of original music is coming soon. We’re working on a whole huge project, a project that has got a meaning and storyline – a story about Nontsikelelo,” said Gijana.

Since entering SA’s Got Talent and Idols, Gijana said his journey has been a hectic one as he was catapulted into the spotlight at an early age and was forced to find his steps and create his own path as a young artist

“I’m getting used to it, but, it’s not easy and it’s than people think it is. In this journey there’s a lot that I’m still learning and what I’ve learnt the most was to stay true to myself,” he said.
