JOBURG – Beware of criminals this festive season.

Norwood Police Station has warned members of the public within its policing precinct to be more vigilant against the increasing scourge of theft out of motor vehicles.

Station spokesperson Sergeant Eric Masotsha said theft out of motor vehicles had increased in Norwood and surrounding areas. “These incidents occur daily within our policing precinct and we would like to warn residents not to leave their valuables in their cars as this tends to attract this kind of crime.”

He said the most affected streets in the Norwood area included Nellie and William and along the business district of Grant Avenue. Suburbs affected included Houghton, Waverley, Victoria, Orange Grove and Highlands North.

Masotsha also encouraged residents to report any suspicious activities in the area which often lead to the commission of crimes.
