A line-up of extraordinary risk-takers and innovators has been announced For TEDxJohannesburgWomen: Bold+Brilliant taking place at WeWork Rosebank on 5 December.

This is the first TEDxJohannesburg event for women since 2013, and is an unapologetic celebration of pioneers making power moves, brilliant women who are just getting started, and those who tirelessly show up as allies and advocates.

The event takes place in the closing days of 16 Days of Activism 2019 and among the speakers is Professor Pumla Gqola – a feminist, Pan-Africanist, academic, author whose books include Rape: A South African Nightmare and Reflecting Rogue: Inside the Mind of a Feminist.

“We are greatly looking forward to our second event for women – an occasion for inspiration, and for recognising the incredible work championed by women and girls in all fields. We are very proud of the line-up that we’ve secured. It reflects so many important spheres – and will enthral and engage our audience through the signature eighteen-minutes-or-less format,” said Kelo Kubu, TEDxJohannesburg licensee.

An additional highlight of TEDxJohannesburgWomen: Bold+Brilliant will be the working lunch sessions that take place between the event’s morning and afternoon speaker sessions.

An open call to host these 10 sessions saw nearly 100 applications touching on many important topics – including self-defence techniques, gender diversity and inclusion and the ugly truth about gender capital.

These working lunch sessions are open to attendees of TEDxJohannesburgWomen only and potential audience members are encouraged to book their tickets as soon as possible to be able to attend what promises to be a brilliant addition to TEDxJohannesburgWomen.

“Everyone – not just women – is welcome to gather in celebration of moving forward, boldly and brilliantly, while sharing the work of shaping our future,” Kubu said.
