Volunteers sought for crime prevention desk

NORWOOD – The Norwood Police Station is looking for volunteers who would assist at the Crime Prevention desk.

Youth are encouraged to apply for a volunteering position available at Norwood Police Station at the Crime Prevention desk.

Young people and unemployed youth are encouraged to apply for these positions.

The station’s spokesperson, Sergeant Eric Masotsha, said the applications for these positions will allow young people to help address crime in their respective policing sectors within the Norwood policing precinct. “The aim is to maintain a healthy youth desk which will encourage and enable young individuals to actively participate in identifying causes of youth violence and crime.”

Volunteers are also expected to work on developing crime prevention strategies that would help deal with issues of youth unemployment and drug abuse.

Young and enthusiastic individuals who wish to volunteer at Norwood Police Station should meet certain requirements.

They must be South African citizens; must be between the ages of 18 to 35 and be in possession of a Grade 12 Senior Certificate. Applicants will also be required to provide proof of residential address.

Interested young people can drop their CV at Norwood Police Station, Social Crime Development office.

“Successful candidates will be notified telephonically or through emails. If you don’t receive any communication from our office within two weeks after the closing date of 31 December 2019, it means your application was unsuccessful,” Masotsha said.
