Gauteng SAPS launched the provincial safer festive season operations this morning

JOHANNESBURG – The police also said that Minister Cele and his entourage boarded a train from New Canada Station to Johannesburg Station where they interacted with the commuters. A walkabout was also conducted at Noord taxi rank.


According to a released statement by the South African Police Service, Minister of Police General Bheki Cele, Deputy Minister Cassel Mathale, Deputy National Commissioner Lieutenant General Masemola and the Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Mawela are leading crime prevention operations that commenced as early as 3am this morning, 8 November.

“A hijacked building was raided where hundreds of undocumented persons were taken in for processing by the Department of Home Affairs for verification of their stay in the country and verification of those who have documents suspected to be fraudulent,’ said the police.

The police also said that Minister Cele and his entourage also boarded a train from New Canada Station to Johannesburg Station where they interacted with the commuters. A walkabout was also conducted at Noord taxi rank.
