Solving the puzzles to rid crime off the streets

NORWOOD – Norwood Police Station detective solves the puzzles and helps put criminals behind bars.

 


Detective Warrant Officer Kgomotso Makwetla solves the puzzles to rid the streets of Norwood police precinct of crime. He works tirelessly and is leading by example. His work visibly reflects the greater results as he helps put many criminals behind bars with his thorough investigations.

Most of his investigations have led to the successful convictions of suspects. In 2016, a man who was arrested for business robbery and housebreaking, Moses Tshantsha, was sentenced last year to six years in prison.

In 2017, Michael Mashabela was arrested for housebreaking and theft. Following the investigations by Makwetla, the man was sentenced to serve 20 years.

Some of the suspects he helped put behind bars are Sam Makarambira who was arrested in 2017 for housebreaking and theft and who has since been sentenced to five years in prison. Through his investigations, Makwetla continued to strengthen the long arm of the law as he dedicates his time in the force to keep Norwood police precinct free from crime, according to the police spokesperson, Sergeant Eric Masotsha.

Last year this detective’s work showed even better results. This after Siphiwe Kheswa, who was arrested for housebreaking and theft, was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Some of the criminals who are behind bars are Tebogo Lekwane who was arrested for theft in 2018 and sentenced to six years in prison this year; Kabelo Mohapi arrested in 2018 for possession of stolen goods was sentenced in 2018 to four months’ imprisonment; Marco Michael Laplace arrested this year for assault with grievous bodily harm was sentenced to four months in prison.

Some of the latest convictions in which Makwetla solved the cases include Ray Adam’s arrest for housebreaking and theft earlier this year and he was sentenced to four years in prison.

Masotsha praised the detective and indicated that he was a very dedicated investigating officer. “He pushes all employees in these offices in the Norwood Police Station through his work and working positively with community members.”
